We live in a crazy paced world which seems to get faster each day. We juggle as best as we can, trying to fit in as much as we can. Many people feel stressed or anxious as a result of our busy lives.
What is Stress?
Stress is a process. ... We usually require some levels of stress to get things done. Some people thrive on stress. The term 'stress' in a clinical sense, refers to a situation that causes discomfort and distress.
Stressors are the situations and pressures that cause stress. Anything that puts high demands on a person can be stressful.
The symptoms of stress can affect your body, thoughts, feelings, and behavior. You may not even be aware that you are being affected by stress. Recognizing the symptoms of stress can help you manage them
Symptoms of stress include:
- Low energy
- Headaches
- Digestive Issues
- Nausea
- Physical aches and pains
- Chest pain
- Rapid heartbeat
- Insomnia
- Lower immunity
Unmanaged stress can contribute to many health problems, including high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes.
Image your stress levels as a cup full of water. When our stress levels are high, the cup is full, so any little amount of water added over-spills – we over react or respond inappropriately.
When our stress levels are low (and the water level is low), and we add some water, we barely notice it. We handle the situation with ease.
Ideally, we want to have an empty cup. Where our everyday stress levels are managed and any situation that adds stress is easily mitigated.

The more we practice these techniques, the more they become our norm. We take the calmness off the mat and into our daily lives. The neural pathways in our mind are trained to become calm. The feeling of calm and overall wellness becomes a part of our daily life.
