Reiki

Reiki is a hands on healing technique balancing the underlying energy field which result in illness.

Rei, means “universal spirit,” and ki, means “life-force.” Together, Reiki means “universal life energy.”

Reiki is passed on to the student by a Reiki master. When undergoing a Reiki training, the student’s energy channels are opened up to give and receive this Universal Energy.

Reiki is considered an energy therapy. Energy therapies improve the flow and balance of energy which improves health and wellbeing.

How Does Reiki Work?

A Reiki treatment is linked to the Chakra system. There are 7 major Chakras or energy centres in the human body that align along the spine and a number of minor Chakras and Nadis. Nadis are tubes, ducts or channels which carry air, water, blood, nutrients and other substances around the body. On a physical level, they are our arteries, veins, capillaries, bronchioles and so on. In our subtle body they are channels for cosmic, vital energy. This subtle energy system govern our physical, emotional and spiritual states

The 7 main Ckakras govern:

Main Chakras Physical Emotional Spiritual
Crown Top centre of the head and midline above the ears, brain, nervous system, pineal gland Feeling at one with the universe Inner Wisdom and the release of karma
Eyebrow (Third Eye) Brain, eyes, ears, nose, pituitary gland, pineal glands, neurological system Ability to manifest, imagination, intuition, concentration and focus Trusting inner guidance
Throat Throat, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, trachea, cervical vertebrae, vocal cords, neck, shoulder, arms, hands, oesophagus, mouth, teeth, gums Creative and expressive, constructive communication, contentment, centred,  positive self-expression Sense of security
Heart Heart, rib cage, blood, circulatory system, lungs and diaphragm, thymus gland, breasts, oesophagus, shoulders, arms, hands Feeling of completeness and wholeness, compassionate, empathic, friendly, optimistic, motivated, nurturing, outgoing Devotion
Solar Plexus Upper abdomen, gallbladder, liver, middle spine, kidney, adrenals, small intestines, stomach Energetic, confident, intelligent, decisive, productive, good digestion, mental focus Growth
Sacral Sexual organs, stomach, upper intestines, liver, gallbladder, kidney, pancreas, adrenal glands, spleen, middle spine, auto immune system Feeling compassionate, friendly, intuitive, vital, sexual, satisfied, prosperous, having a sense of belonging and humour Enthusiasm
Base Bones, teeth, nails, anus, prostate, adrenals, kidneys, lower digestive functions, excretory functions, and sexual activity Feeling grounded, centered, committed and independent, having energy and vitality, strength and stillness, able to digest foods well Security

We are made up of more than a physical body, we have more subtle layers which make up the whole. These include:
• Etheric body, which draws in the energy from the Universal Energy and disperses this energy through our Chakra system.
• Emotional Body which reflects our emotional state, including any blocked or stuck emotions.
• Mental Body which reflects our belief system.

In a Reiki treatment, the Chakra system is unblocked and balanced. Stagnant energy is moved.
When our energy system is flowing and balanced, this is reflected in our physical body, in the way we feel and the clarity of our thinking.
What happens in a Reiki Treatment?
A Reiki treatment is non-invasive. The client stays clothed and lays on a massage table. We ensure the client is warm and comfortable. The practitioner proceeds to lay their hands gently onto the client in various positions.

What can it be used for?

Reiki is used to balance the energetic system which can clear the underlying energy of disease.
In a treatment you may enter a deep state of relaxation. This may help with pain control, reduce anxiety and stress or alleviate the underlying cause of disease.
